Partners in Education
SkateDaze cares about education and is a community business leader in the drive to promote learning and celebrate achievement. Since the early 1950's the Cernik family has been committed to working with area schools. By promoting reading, celebrating good grades, and hosting countless school fundraising events, SkateDaze proves that they are more than just another local business. The major ways in which we promote achievement in education are:
School Parties and Fundraisers
- Many of the area elementary and middle schools have at least two to four parties at SkateDaze each year. It's a great way to get students, parents, and faculty together for an evening of safe and fun social interaction. The cost is lowered for these events to make it more affordable for all. On top of that, nearly every school party held at SkateDaze is also a fundraiser. Through kickbacks from these events, SkateDaze has given $1.5 million to the area's educational institutions.
Read & Roll
- This program is hugely popular and has been around for years. SkateDaze simply distributes bookmarks to schools and libraries. These bookmarks allow students to keep track of leisurely reading. For each book a student reads, he or she just needs a signature from a parent or teacher. After five books are read and signed for, the student brings in the bookmark for one free admission to SkateDaze.
Report Card Daze
- Each Wednesday from 3-8pm, SkateDaze accepts report card passes, giving the bearer FREE roller skating admission. These passes are given when a student brings in her or his report card and shows it to one of our managers at the front counter. For each 'A' grade (or equivalent), SkateDaze awards two report card passes and one pass for each 'B' grade (or equivalent). So, a straight 'A' student can potentially receive enough free passes to get him or her through an entire summer worth of roller skating!
Day Camp
- Each summer, SkateDaze hosts a day camp for hundreds of area youth. This affordable program creates a safe, fun, and educational environment for kids while they're out of school for the summer.
